Short story... Bradshaw's saved us from junking a car and new car payments! Tom was extremely accommodating and we appreciate him., their quick diagnosis, and very flexible policy allowing us to provide repair parts if we chose so we could keep our usual brand battery and save a few hundred dollars on the distributor. Son-in-law Z's high-mileage '96 Camry cranked but wouldn't start. Their regular shop told them it was due to low compression in cyIinder #1 and since #1 didn't 'catch' the other cylinders wouldn't 'follow'. Their conclusion is that something was broken in the engine and the car was essentially done. If this weren't so sad it would be funny but that was clear evidence the person we spoke to did not know what they were talking about and Z and a niece had been using them for years. I live in SoCal so I couldn't offer much help but I found Tom Dwyer's in a Google search and was impressed they show their bad reviews as well as good. They didn't work on older vehicles unless you're an established customer but when I asked they said they ONLY refer to one shop, Bradshaw's in Hawthorne. Had car towed to Bradshaw's and after a quick diagnosis they advised the distributor had a broken part causing car to only run on three cylinders, We were impressed immediately since it was actually running and other shop never had gotten that far. Provided Bradshaw's with Duralast Gold Battery and new Cardone distributor and cap and they finished work promptly and charged fairly for their work. Not only did car drive away from shop without any issues but it passed DEQ inspection two days later! With confidence restored Z bought new tires and is looking forward to driving this car another few years. He might even fix the front passenger door that won't open, and if there are any other drivability problems that pop up he'll be visiting Bradshaw's for sure.
